It’s all about the Program

August 24, 2008

Congratulations to the USA men’s basketball team on winning the Olympic Gold Medal in 2008. A lot was made of the new strategy of taking the long view and developing a program for winning in world competition, beyond just fielding ad hoc aggregations of superstars (who were unable to take home gold last time). It seems to have paid off, and we think the lessons are applicable to winning at information security as well. Even having talent as immense as The Redeem Team doesn’t guarantee success on the global stage anymore – you have to build a program that’s bigger than the sum of its parts. What’s your strategy for creating winning infosec program in ’09 and beyond?
